Weather FAQs
Can I have my ceremony at the pond in the rain?
Yes, you can. We understand that this is a beautiful setting and many brides really, really want to be by the pond. You can get married in pouring rain and some couples do. Things to think about if you are considering this option:
Talk to your DJ and photographer/videographer about whether they are able to provide support in pouring rain. The closest covered area to the ceremony site is the front porch of the honeymoon cabin. We do not provide a tent or other cover by the ceremony site.
While you may be happy to get married in rain, many of your guests may not wish to sit in rain. We cannot make your guests sit at the ceremony site in the rain. Some significant number will choose to remain in covered areas like the pavilion or tent. In fact, it may not be possible for elderly relatives to get safely to the pond in the rain. So you want to consider if you are willing to have some significant people possibly miss seeing your ceremony.
If you choose to keep your ceremony by the pond in the rain, we may not be able to move your ceremony arch up to the reception tent, if this was your plan.
What other options are there for rain?
We have two beautiful rain ceremony options.
Our covered pavilion can seat up to 200. Nearly all the chairs stay quite dry and guests are comfortable. Your DJ and photographer/videographer can work comfortably in this area. We highly recommend this as your preferred rain option. It works well for all rain events, except for severe thunderstorms/wind.
Our reception tent can also be utilized as a rain option. If the ceremony takes place during severe thunderstorms, this is the safest and driest rain option, as we can close all the sides of the tent, keeping even heavy, driving rain from getting guests and equipment wet. In this event, guests sit at their tables during the ceremony and then cocktail hour and the reception can all be held in the tent.
Can I reschedule my wedding if it rains?
Unfortunately this is not realistic. Your venue, your vendors, and your guests have all set aside time in their schedules for your wedding day and it is not possible for all these many parties to reschedule for another day.
